Website Redesign Cost: What You Actually Pay For
Compare website redesign costs, ongoing expenses and Revamp plans. See what Grow includes and how to budget for the website your business needs.
A website redesign budget has three parts: the work needed to launch, the cost of running the website and the time or service you need for later changes. Compare those parts over the same period before choosing a platform or accepting an agency quote.
There is no useful single price without a scope. Reusing approved content is different from rewriting every page; a contact form is different from a booking journey with deposits. Start with the pages, content and customer actions your business needs.
For current published prices, see our website cost benchmark comparing Revamp with agency development. It separates build fees from ongoing services and shows first-year budgets using the providers’ published prices.
Compare who does the work
| Responsibility | You build with a platform | You hire an agency or freelancer |
|---|---|---|
| Goals and approvals | You define the outcome and review the result | You brief the provider and approve their work |
| Design and content | You guide the design and supply or commission accurate copy and imagery | The quote should state which design and content work the provider owns |
| Migration and launch | You review existing pages, important URLs and working customer journeys | Agree who handles migration, redirects, testing and publication |
| Running costs | You pay the chosen plan and any external services | Confirm which costs are included, passed through or billed directly |
| Later changes | You make changes or buy help when needed | Agree an ongoing service or a process for separately priced work |
With Revamp, you can build and refine through conversation without doing the technical implementation yourself. You still need to review business information, permissions and the finished customer experience. Hiring a provider can shift delivery work away from your team; compare that responsibility as well as the fee.
What does a Revamp redesign cost?
| Plan | Monthly price | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Studio | $29 | Create, refine and export a project; no custom-domain publishing |
| Grow | $99 | Publish and run your business websites with connections, SEO tools, analytics and priority support |
Grow includes unlimited projects, with three live projects on your own domains. Additional live projects cost $15/month each. Its 700 monthly AI credits are shared across projects; unlimited projects does not mean unlimited AI generation. New accounts receive 30 one-time credits to explore Revamp without a credit card.
See current plans and allowances for the full breakdown. Agencies managing client work have dedicated plans.
What are you paying for beyond the design?
A professional appearance is the starting point. Your website might also need booking, deposits, customer accounts, product sales or a private area where your team manages enquiries.
In Revamp, you describe those needs in ordinary language. Refine the design by chatting or editing visually, then keep building the features your business needs in the same project. You do not have to turn each new idea into a separate development brief.
For example, a studio could begin with a redesigned service website, then add appointment choices, deposits and confirmation emails. The value is having the freedom to improve the customer experience as your business evolves.
How should you compare an agency quote?
Ask for a written breakdown that covers:
- Design and content: page layouts, copywriting, photography and brand work.
- Customer journeys: what happens when someone books, pays or submits an enquiry.
- Revisions: who makes changes and how feedback is handled.
- Publishing and migration: domain connection, existing content and changing page addresses.
- Ongoing work: hosting, updates, support and the process for adding features.
An agency can be appropriate when you want someone else to own the creative and delivery process. Revamp is built for business owners, founders and professionals who want hands-on control without doing technical work.
Include ongoing costs in your budget
Compare the same period for every option, such as the first year. Include the initial project fee, recurring subscriptions and expected updates. Domain registration, payment processing and any paid external services should also be included where relevant.
For a simple planning example, twelve months of Grow at its $99 monthly rate totals $1,188. That is the subscription calculation, not a complete project quote. Your total depends on any additional usage, live projects or external services you choose.
Use the redesign cost calculator with your own assumptions rather than treating a broad industry average as your budget.
Copy this first-year budget worksheet
Fill in one column per option. Use a fixed project quote or estimated hours multiplied by a rate for the same work, not both. Keep your team’s time separate from cash spending unless you deliberately assign it a value.
| Budget item | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Design and delivery | Agreed service fee, or your estimated hours × rate |
| Content and assets | Copy, photography and licenses not already included above |
| Migration and launch | Imports, URL mapping and launch checks not already included |
| Contingency | A chosen reserve for uncertain launch work |
| Platform and domain | Actual first-year subscription and registration or renewal costs |
| Connected services and usage | Expected paid services, transaction fees and additional usage |
| Ongoing help | Updates or support bought separately from the platform |
| Internal time | Your team’s estimated hours for inputs, reviews and later changes |
First-year cash budget = launch costs + contingency + first-year running costs. Check taxes, billing periods and inclusions before comparing totals. An annual subscription should be entered at its annual price, not twelve times its monthly-billing price.
Worked example with explicit assumptions
Suppose you budget $600 for commissioned content and $200 for images, with a 15% reserve on those $800 launch expenses. You choose Grow billed monthly for twelve months ($1,188), assume $25 for a domain and allow $20/month for a paid connected service ($240).
The cash budget is $800 + $120 + $1,188 + $25 + $240 = $2,373 for the first year. These content, domain, service and contingency figures are illustrative assumptions, not supplier quotes or market averages. The example assumes no extra live projects, purchased credits, transaction fees or separately paid maintenance; add them if your project needs them. Taxes are not included.
If your team also expects 20 hours of review and preparation, record those hours beside the cash total. At an assumed internal value of $50/hour, that adds $1,000 of staff time for a combined planning value of $3,373; it does not change the $2,373 cash budget.
Replace every assumption with your own figures in the cost calculator. If you are an agency deciding what to charge, use the separate guide to pricing redesign packages.
Frequently asked questions
Can I redesign first and connect my domain later?
Yes. Build and refine in preview before publishing. Studio supports creation and export; Grow includes publishing on your own domain.
Will adding more pages require another website package?
Revamp does not sell fixed five-page or ten-page redesign packages. You can continue adding pages within your project. AI work uses your plan’s available credits.
Can I keep making changes after launch?
Yes. Update the design, content and features by chatting or editing visually. Review changes in preview and publish when ready, with the Revamp support team available when needed.
Build what your business needs. Keep improving it.
- Start with your existing website or create something new from your idea
- Add pages, forms, bookings, payments and other business features by chatting
- Publish on your own domain and keep improving everything in one workspace
