About this template
Help visitors understand how family history research can turn names, places and recollections into a carefully sourced story. The design introduces a research approach that follows evidence while making room for unanswered questions.
A clear path leads from the visitor's first clue to research services and an invitation to share an enquiry. Archival imagery, record examples and restrained editorial styling give the subject a personal, considered feel.
Who it’s for
Independent genealogists, family historians and ancestry research practices looking to explain their approach and invite prospective clients to begin with a family name, place or question.
What’s included
The page moves from an evocative family-story introduction to a visual explanation of research, a three-part service overview and a direct enquiry invitation.
- Family history hero
- An editorial headline, archival-style portrait and introductory copy frame genealogy as a story still unfolding, with a prominent invitation to start with what the visitor knows.
- Research approach
- A red thread connects examples of a passenger list, parish register and family letter. A researcher’s note explains the value of careful questions and evidence.
- Research services
- Three numbered steps describe finding an initial research lead, comparing archival and local evidence, and presenting findings with their sources and open questions.
- Guiding principle
- A short statement about history’s place in the present gives the page a reflective pause between the research overview and enquiry invitation.
- Start an enquiry
- The closing section encourages visitors to begin with a single detail and provides a written-contact call to action.
